Apparently my friend showed the sketch I did to his colleague asking for opinion. Above quote was her response. He works for a start-up game company and she's their lead illustrator.
She's absolutely correct.
99% of my free art-loving times are devoted to countless useless sketches. I also never really clean up lines if I was to color them....
Here is what a video game character would look like if I actually was doing a character illustration.

It's still not the cleanest coloring. I didn't want to just color block everything... >_<
