USOGUI 嘘喰い - The Lie Eater

I would probably pronounce it us U-So-Gui.
High chance it is incorrect since I'm not Japanese. :p

What is Usogui? It's a dark manga, meaning it goes deep into the dark side of human beings. It show cases wrath, greed, pride, lust, fear, and most importantly trickery. It's a manga about the underworld gambling in Japan where people can bet on their lives against one another under the referees organization "Kagerou." There is a lot of conspiracy going on in the background. The character development makes the story really enjoyable.
The fun part also comes from reading their mental struggles trying to win against one another.

The main character Baku Madarame, whose nickname is "usogui" (the Lie Eater), is the legendary gambler. As his title suggests, he goes around and gambles against those people who are gambling member protected by Kagerou and won whenever he caught their lies so to speak. His goal was to challenge the head of Kagerou and take over the organization.

The story also involves with another protagonist, Kaji Takaomi whose an ordinary boring Japanese but as he gets deeper and more involved with Baku, his character development gets interesting and possibly he will end up taking over Baku's legendary status. They love to have apprenticeship in a lot of these type of stories.

It does remind me of kurosagi: The Black Swindler but Usogui's story is much more complex and Baku isn't exactly a positive figure entirely. Yet he's not as the pure evil in the Monster (15 volumes thriller manga that had a really disappointed ending).

Apparently there is anime version (OVA). Not like I'd watch it because I rarely enjoy a manga-turned anime or live action.

From a Yaoi stand point, they are deciding who's going to be on the "top" <3
